Lumeo makes clever upgrades to everyday gear, the pump that lives in your boot, the headlamp, the little electric screwdriver. We run our own Facebook ads, and the ads that work are the ones that look real: real people, real bakkies, real trails, real Durban light.

So instead of stock footage, we pay locals to shoot it. You film short clips of the product being used in your own world. We turn them into ads. It's genuinely that simple, and we'd rather work with a handful of people who show up and deliver than a hundred who don't.

We watch your 20 clips. If they're good, you carry on to the full brief. If not, you just return the product. No cost, no hard feelings.

No trial pay, no admin fee, nothing to buy. The 20-clip test is the only unpaid part, and it's just the audition, on a product we've handed you.

Fair enough to ask.

Do I need to be a professional videographer?

Not at all. If you can follow a simple card and hold your phone steady, you can do this. Half the people we work with had never filmed for a brand before.

What if my test clips aren't good enough?

Then you bring the product back and that's the end of it. No cost to you, no hard feelings. The test exists so we both find out quickly whether it's a fit.

Do you post the product to me?

No. This is a Durban, collect-in-person gig. You pick the product up from our Glen Anil warehouse and return it there. It keeps things local and simple, and it means we get to meet the people we work with.

What does it pay, and when?

R2 000 per completed shoot, paid once we've accepted your full brief. The 20-clip test beforehand is unpaid, it's the audition.

What gear do I need?

An iPhone 14 or newer, and that's really it. No tripods, no gimbals, no lights. Most of the shots are simple and steady hands do the job.

How long does a shoot take?

You've got a week from collecting the product to deliver the footage, but faster is better and it counts in your favour. Most shoots are an afternoon or two of filming spread across a few days.

Do I get to keep the product?

No, it's a loan you return to Glen Anil once you're done, in working order. You get paid for the footage, not the product.
