This was bought as as Christmas gift for my son, so we haven't pumped it up yet, but I did try it's "effects" with my cellphone camera, and WOW! It really does light up! Even though it is not illuminated to the naked eye, it still has a really cool, almost iridescent effect. I think he's going to love it!
